Keonjhar ( Zee Kalinga Live ) On 25.03.2025 at 12:15 PM, while police patrolling near Khuntapada field in Keonjhar district , received information about illegal cattle transportation. As the team approached the escorting Bolero (OD-14-R-6183) , the suspects verbally abused, attempted to run over, and attacked the police with lathis and knives.
The police tactically overpowered and arrested six accused, including the driver. At the scene, 133 cattle were found cruelly tied for illegal transport to West Bengal, allegedly for slaughter and export. The team rescued the cattle, seized the Bolero, weapons, and ropes, and arranged veterinary care.
A case has been registered under Sections 303(2)/317(2)/109/325/221/3(5) BNS, Sec-11(1)(d) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and Sec-7 of the Odisha Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act at sadar police station,keonjhar for illegal cattle transport, obstruction of duty of police persons.
