Bhubaneswar( Zee Kanga Live) : Odisha Vigilance sleuths carried out a series of raids on the properties of Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Athmallik block in Odisha’s Angul district after allegations of him possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income surfaced. The accused AEE Ramachandra Satpathy and his son-in-law Dr. Tapan Kumar Tripathy are being interrogated after the anti-corruption bureau seized Rs 23.95 lakh cash from the house of the latter, a Medical Officer at the Community Health Centre (CHC) of Junagarh in Kalahandi district.
As per reports, a team comprising 7 DSPs, 15 Inspectors, and other supporting staff acrried out multiple raids at eight locations across Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, and Kalahandi districts on the strength of the search warrants issued by Special Judge (Vigilance), Cuttack. They raided the residential house of Ramachandra Satpathy at Ward No.15, Plot no.12, Gayatri Nagar in Dhenkanal, his government quarters at Attamallick Town, Angul, his office room at Panchayat Samiti Office, Attamallick, Angul, his paternal house at Banasingh, Dhenkanal apart from houses of his in-laws in Junagarh (Kalahandi), Karamula village (Dhenkanal), Bhawanipatna and a structure built over Plot at Bachhipur, Trisulia in Barang, Cuttack.
Official sources said after Rs 23.95 lakh cash was recovered from the house of the accused official’s son in-law, both are being interrogated to ascertain the source of funds. The cash has been seized.
During the searches, the following assets in the name of Satpathy and his family members were detected:
Residential double storeyed building with area approx. 5000 Sqft located at Ward No.15, Plot no.12, Gayatri Nagar, Dhenkanal.
17 high value plots including 1 in Barang, Cuttack and rest 16 plots in and around Dhenkanal town.
326 gm gold
Bank deposits over Rs 63.69 lakh. Other deposits are being ascertained.
Rs 23.95 lakh cash
2 four wheelers (Honda Jazz in name of Ramachandra Satpathy & Hyundai i20 in name of his son-in-law) and 2 two wheelers.
Official sources said measurement and valuation/assessment of the above building/plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing. Searches are in progress. Further details are awaited.
